Here is the email that Jobs sent to Apple employees this afternoon:
Team,
I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.
In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.
I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Jon Stewart and Samantha Bee discuss John McCain’s Air Quotes or ‘Dick Fingers’ and Women’s Health Rights on The Daily Show.
Thank you for saying it Samantha. Whatever happens next week, we’ve still got you, Jon, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey.
How about a Meat Suit? This and other strange meaty works are on display in the Joy, NY Gallery of Daneyal Mahmood.
Kittiwat Unarrom is a Thai artist that uses his creativity to bake up goulish treats of bruised and battered heads, feet and other internal organs. Call me crazy, but I think I’m going to stick to pumpkin pie.
No matter how big the ick factor, I have to give both artsians props for passion and detail.
Like Chocolate! This promo video is more tempting to the treat side of you. Go ahead, take a bite out of Chocolate Man.
UXDiva and others at YesWeCarve have taken their creative talents into pumpkin sculptures of Hope. Submit your own for the chance to win an iPod Nano. They even give you stencils.
Happy Haunting everyone.
This was the last post I had on Myspace. It’s of Sen. Ted Stevens calling the internet ‘a bunch of tubes’. Sen. Stevens is the bafoon that even John McCain booted off the playground this week. Seems the Senate is just ‘a bunch of tools’.
Here’s the delightful aw inspiring speech, minus Jon Stewart:

Amendments on the November 4 Ballot explained in plain English by Representative Mary Brandenburg
There will be seven referenda on the November 6 ballot that affect residents of Palm Beach County. Six would change the State Constitution, and one would change the Palm Beach County Charter. The Florida Supreme Court struck three other state referenda from the ballot. These amendments will affect your life; please consider them carefully before you vote for or against them.
Amendment 1 repeals the existing “Alien Land” provision in Florida’s Constitution. In the last century, Florida, like many other states, did not allow Asian immigrants to own land. This non-controversial amendment will remove that outdated restriction.
Amendment 2 defines marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman, and forbids any “other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof.” Basically, this is an anti-gay marriage referendum. Proponents say this will protect the institution of marriage and is needed in the Florida Constitution even though Florida already has a law limiting marriage to one man and one woman. As a member of the State Legislature myself, I know the Florida Legislature is not likely to change that law to permit gay marriage in Florida in the foreseeable future. Opponents warn that domestic partnership insurance benefits (such as those offered to straight and gay couples by many local governments and businesses) may be threatened. Constitutional scholars point out that other amendments have increased freedom, and that this one is unique in Florida’s history because it is designed to limit freedom for Floridians. Cynics suggest this amendment is not about defining marriage, but merely is intended to bring conservative voters to the polls for the presidential election. Read more at www.fairnessforallfamilies.org and www.yes2marriage.org.
Amendment 3 authorizes the Legislature to create residential property tax breaks for energy efficiency and hurricane hardening. Improvements and upgrades on homes that increase energy efficiency, such as solar panels or added insulation, would not result in higher tax assessments even if the changes increase the home’s value. The same applies to improvements or upgrades that add windstorm protection, such as shutters or tie-downs.
Amendment 4 requires the Legislature to create property tax exemptions for privately owned land held in perpetuity for conservation. It also requires land used for conservation, but not perpetually dedicated, to be taxed based on its conservation use and not on its highest and best use.
Amendment 6 requires that working waterfront property be taxed on the basis of its current use and not on its highest and best use. Working waterfronts include land used for commercial fishing, marinas, boatbuilding, etc. The goal is to prevent working waterfront property from being redeveloped into high-rise buildings.
Amendment 8 allows each county to vote on whether to create a local option sales tax for a maximum of five years to benefit the local community college.
Amendment 5, which would have reduced school property taxes and increased sales tax rates;
Amendments 7, which would have removed the restriction against giving tax dollars to religious institutions, and Amendment 9, which would have allowed public school dollars to be used for private school tuition, have been struck from the ballot.
Palm Beach County voters are likely to see a county charter amendment called Let Us Vote. The language will be finalized this month by the County Commission, but the plan is to allow voters in each city to vote on whether to implement any action taken by the County Commission that affects residents of that city. This proposal has the support of the Palm Beach County League of Cities.
