No stem left behind!
There’s nothing better for you than fresh, local organic veggies! But what happens when you have a refrigerator full of them and can’t use them all before they start to wilt?
We never have this problem - every part of the plant gets used here, even when they start to wilt.
Since our dogs get a homemade, natural diet, anything that is left or not so new gets put aside for them. Also, whenever I juice for myself, the remaining pulp is put aside for them. Then when I’m ready to make their food, all of it gets tossed into the juicer, pulped and Waaala! Hound salad! Dogs digestive systems don’t process whole veggies, nor will mine even attempt to eat them that way. The juicer works better than any food processor that I’ve used for this. The puree is fine and it takes seconds with little clean up.
These are the meals that I enjoy giving them the most. They love the bones and meats, but it is in these dishes that I can add all of the TLC. Typically, this is what goes into their dish:
- veggie puree, including leafy greens, fruit, and various other vegetables
- an organ meat or a raw egg to entice my picky eaters
- Halo’s Dream Coat
- Raw garlic or Kyolic substitute if I’m lazy
- Missing Link, Digestive Enzymes
- Arthrimaxx, joint support
- Top with the freshly made veggie juice to get the best nutrients
I love my hounds!
